Charitable Organizations – Tips to Trust Them

Being a responsible member of the community and as a compassionate individual, it’s inevitable to feel the need to donate to Charitable Organizations. The donations we give are, after all, investments which are helpful to the community, the country and to the world as well.
The world faces economic downturn nowadays and as you could have seen in news reports, natural disasters are affecting more and more countries. Because of that fact, you could anticipate the growing number of charities requesting for help in any way they can. However, you have to first verify the true existence of the organizations and check if they’re for real. You do not want to get fooled by exceptional scam artists whose expertise would be taking advantage of your kind-heartedness.
It’s quite hard to give your full trust to someone nowadays so if you receive any solicitation from emails, mail, or phone, you have to check that your donations are really going to their intended destination. Here are a few helpful hints before you consider giving a donation.
1. Find out more information on the organization or the person soliciting donations. It’s a typical practice for some organizations to offer Charity Jobs to some people, asking other people to help with the collection of funds. If you have been solicited, don’t hesitate to ask the person about the organization or any details that you think would be relevant. If they do all they can just to avoid your queries, then you probably shouldn’t trust them in the first place. A legitimate organization and its fundraising group will not force you to donate.
2. It’s better when you call the charity when donations requests are received via email, phone or mail. You should verify if the solicitation is an authorized one or just some form of scam.
3. You should also request written information from the organization. You can trust a fundraising group if they can provide you relevant information about their charity.
4. Overnight charities should be avoided; they’re charities established right away after a calamity. Considering the emotional state of people right after a disaster, the appeals from such charity could simply persuade you with but most likely, they don’t have the appropriate infrastructure established which you should need to make sure your donations find their way to the right cause.
5. Check donations are always better than cash donations.
Just remember, donating to these charitable organizations or the Non profit organizations is certainly an act of kindness but still be careful though not to let your guard down on this one.
