Security should be a serious issue to anyone who uses a computer. Whether at work or home, most people are well aware of the risks associated with the internet. Trojans, spyware, viruses and other download traps are the equivalent of Armageddon to your precious computer’s hard drive and can have a serious impact on your life if your computer is infected. But, although most people are quite savvy about the security threats from the internet, the majority still don’t consider the risks associated with imported storage material such as CDs, DVDs, memory sticks and memory cards – especially those from digital cameras.

Experts will tell you that inserting any foreign data storage or transfer medium into your computer without checking for viruses first is not a wise move. Yet, most of us are quite happy to take a memory card out of our digital camera and insert it straight into our computer, or a do-it-yourself print machine in a supermarket, chemist or photo shop, in order to print off our pictures.

But a memory card is a medium upon which instructions can be written to by a computer. A digital camera is merely a sophisticated, modified computer and the cards used in it can also be inserted directly into some computers. Therefore, it is theoretically possible for someone to infect a photo memory card in their computer then insert it into a printing machine passing on the virus to all subsequent memory cards that use that machine.

Thankfully, however, even through most experts acknowledge that in theory it is perfectly feasible to infect memory cards in this way, they insist that the risk is minimal. They are keen to point out that the perpetrators will gain nothing financially from such an action making it extremely unlikely to occur. In fact most commentators put the chances of your memory disc being infected in this way at around 1 in 10,000.

But even if that miniscule risk is too much for you to contemplate there are alternatives to printing off photos at public booths. You can print at home, either on your regular printer or by using a dedicated machine that produces standard 6 x 4 prints. Currently, this is probably the most expensive way of printing digital photos. It is undoubtedly convenient, but the unit cost with a home printer can be as much as 50 pence per print. Compare that to the cost of printing photos at do-it-yourself booths, and it can be up to ten times more expensive! Uploading photos via the web to secure storage sites is also a way to get cheaper photo prints. Plus an added benefit of using that method is that it is also a convenient way to share your photos with others. By choosing to place your prints in public folders, you simply send the link to the pictures to your friends, rather than cluttering up yours and their inbox with space-hogging photographs.

If you are like me you will do everything you can to make the conditions for taking your pictures as perfect as possible. Putting your subject in the perfect position to capture the best lighting, eliminating distracting elements, these are only a few of the steps necessary to take the best possible photo. Unfortunately, not everything works out perfectly the first time around. This is where this photoshop training course comes in.

Even amateur photographers can now make an ordinary digital photo to look professional using today’s technology. How can they do this? You can use the power of Adobe Photoshop and turn an ordinary photograph into a masterpiece. The truth is that even professional photographers use Adobe Photoshop to air brush so called imperfections in the pictures they took with their SLR camera.

Photoshop allows you to do many things including adding or removing items you\’re your photos. If you want to add a sunny blue sky to a cloudy day it is possible with Adobe Photoshop. The imperfections we all have can be easily removed. Scars, wrinkles and even pimples can all be airbrushed away to make everyone look cover model perfect. These techniques are often used by studio photographers to make their subjects look perfect.

You can even make people who are overweight look as if they are the sexiest people on earth. Such is the magic of Adobe Photoshop. Everything is possible with this photo editing software.

Expensive cameras, while nice, are not even necessary in order to produce high quality photographs. Using your computer you can use any ordinary camera and turn an average photo into a masterpiece with a few clicks of the mouse. Photoshop can take dull, lifeless photos and turn them into vibrant pieces of art.

Photos that were once relegated to the trash bin can now be saved through the magic of Photoshop. You needn\’t worry about red eyes any longer as these can be edited within seconds. Dark pictures can be lightened with a few clicks of the mouse. Simply adjust the brightness and contrast and your pictures will look like you took it in a perfect lighting environment. Back lighted pictures are no longer a problem with Adobe Photoshop.

One of the best things about Photoshop is that it is relatively easy to learn. Learning the program won\’t happen overnight however once you become comfortable with the environment you will be able to edit pictures like a professional.

Hopefully you now understand that you no longer need a digital photo studio in order to make your dull pictures look amazing. Adobe Photoshop will take your great pictures and make them magnificent. Even with a typical point and shoot camera, you can be sure that you will be able to take great pictures with the help of Photoshop.

So, if you want your photos to look as if they were taken by a professional then Adobe Photoshop is the program for you. You can do all that I have mentioned plus more using Adobe Photoshop. Not only can you change the background of your picture, you can even replace someone\’s body with another person\’s body.

I cannot say enough good things about my best friend in the digital world: PhotoShop. Suffice to say I love it! As a graphic designer, I use it in 99% of all my projects, and now I enjoy using what I do to make PhotoShop Tutorials for others.

You don’t need to be a professional or even and “artist” to create works of art. Nowadays, you don’t even have to know how to draw! I intend to create a series of tutorials to illustrate several ways to use this program for creating beautiful pictures and illustrations just by using photographs. In this particular tutorial, I will be showing you how to turn photos into watercolor paintings in a few easy steps.

The only materials needed to follow along with this tutorial are:

–PhotoShop. I use PhotoShop CS3, but you can use whichever version you have.

–A photo. Either a photo of your own or a stock photo. Some really good stock photos can be found for free at Stock Exchange.

That’s it! I find a graphic tablet a nice tool for all work I do in PhotoShop and they are fairly cheap these days, but it is definitely not necessary.

This tutorial does assume that you have some basic knowledge of PhotoShop. Having a basic “beginner knowledge” of the program will help a lot. Also, there is a link in my bio for you to see photos that walk you through everything.

1. Open PhotoShop. Then go to File–>Open, select the picture you want to work with and then hit “Open”.

2. On the layers palette (on the right side), right click on the “Background Layer” and select duplicate. Do this twice.

3. Click on the first duplicate layer (this should be your middle layer), then go to Image–>Adjustments–>Desaturate. Then click on the second duplicate layer (your top layer) and do the same.

4. On the top layer, go to Image–>Adjustments–>Invert.

5. Still on the top Layer, set the blending mode (located within the layer palette, looks like this:) to “Color Dodge”.

6. Still on the top Layer, got to Filter–>Other–>Minimum and set the radius to 1.

Now duplicate the bottom layers (the one that still has color) one more time and drags it to the top of your layers. Go to Filter–>Blur–>Gossip and set the radius number in the box anywhere between 1 and 5. Usually the more detailed the picture, the lower you will want to set the radius. Then set the layer-blending mode to “Multiply”.

7. Select the PaintBrush Tool, select the soft round or “fuzzy” brush shape at the top and set the size to fit whatever area you are working on. Set the opacity to 20%.

Go to Layer–>New Layer and name your final layer whatever you wish and hit “OK”.

Then select the color you wish to paint with and paint the area to improve or change colors.

Each picture you do will have different results. Have fun playing with different levels and colors! I hope you found these PhotoShop Tutorials easy to follow. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

The author has been involved in web designing and web development and has great experience in it and understands how important PhotoShop Tutorials can be in making it big in web designing.

The first thing to do is get those photos out of the magnetic albums immediately and throw away the albums. That takes care of a lot of it right there. But then you might have some pictures that are stuck! You’ll want to remove them very carefully, maybe with a letter opener or a butter knife as they might tear. If they are very valuable to you, take them to a photo shop and have them do it for you.

Next you will want to sort your pictures out chronologically and by subject or person. You might want to work from the present and go back, since recent events are much easier to remember.

If you want to scrap them, start from the present also and use archivally safe materials. All materials should be acid-free with a ph level of 7 or above. Acids might cause discoloring of paper, become inflexible, and eventually become brittle as time passes. It can also destroy photographs or other memorabilia it comes into contact with. Your memories are precious to you and you’ll want preserve them properly to pass them on from generation to generation.

If you’re just starting out with scrapbooking, you will also need an acid-free adhesive, a paper cutter, acid-free pen, and of course acid-free cardstock and patterned paper.

Journaling is very important in a scrapbook. It tells the “story” of the photos. Remember that your journaling should include the who, what, when, where and why or else it is really of no interest to the generations that follow if they don’t know who the person is or the story behind it.

The photos that you have not scrapped yet should be placed in an acid free photo box and properly labeled. If you have as many photos as I do, then you will know why this is very important to sort and label everything. It saves a lot of time, confusion and chaos.

Make sure you only put your favorite or best photos in a scrapbook. If they are blurry or too dark or light, it’s not likely to look any better in a scrapbook. Although you can crop or cut your own photos improving them to a certain extent. The person or object may appear larger or you might want to just cut off objects or people that do not belong in the picture.

When using cardstock or patterned paper, make sure that you color coordinate the paper with the picture and mat the photo. Matting a photo means adhering the photo to a piece of cardstock slightly larger than the photo creating a small frame around it. This emphasizes the photo and makes it stand out.

There are various embellishments you can use to give your layout an added touch, such as, eyelets, buttons, ribbons, metal letters or other objects, clips, brads, snaps, hinges, stickers, diecuts, embossing, vellum, etc. This list is very long! Have fun getting started!

Every year the Apple iPod gets better. Every year they come up with new and great features that people will love and become dependent upon. First, it was just great to be able to carry your favorite music with you everywhere you went. You could even set up different music mixes- one for the gym, one for meditation, one for the grocery store, one for the commute. Wasn’t that just the best thing invented since sliced bread? The iPod Photo allows you to carry 15,000 songs and 25,000 pictures along with you. No more school pictures in the wallet you proud parents, put them on your iPod.

So, here are the details. The Apple iPod Photo (4th Generation) allows you to carry your great music and photos and will also display them on the lighted two-inch screen. The iPod has fifteen hours of battery life when fully charged. The iPod is compatible with Mac OS X or Windows 2000 SP4 and XP and all the essentials including FireWire and USB cords. The iPod photo dock is also handy for picture lovers and allows you to upload your pictures in a snap.

Twenty-five thousand photos, which covers five thousand square feet of wall space. Have a really big family? Well, you can store them all on your iPod. The picture display is fantastic with vivid colors. You can view your pictures exactly the way they are supposed to look with all 65,536 colors. The iPod also displays 25 full-color thumbnails on the screen. This is a great way to share photos with friends and family. No more carrying around pictures in your wallet or purse and no more having to worry about special photos becoming scratched, bent or torn.

ITunes 4.7 has been optimized for photo importation. Simply move your photos to iTunes and then onto your iPod photo folder on your Mac or PC. You can also organize your photos or make changes and adjustments through the Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 or Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0. From here you can zip your photos straight to your iPod for easy viewing. Another great feature is that iTunes 4.7 will auto-synchronize album art onto your iPod.

The 60 GB iPod includes all the great features with massive amounts of memory. With the 40 GB iPod, you can still enjoy your music and photos – just not as many. The 40 GB model holds 10,000 songs and 25,000 photos.

digital photography is now the way of the world in most situations. Everybody has a digital camera these days and the iPod is making it easier to view and share your photos. Even if you don’t have a digital camera, you can upload photos from a photo CD into iTunes and then place them on your iPod. These CDs are available at most photo shops when you have your film developed. The iPod Photo is a really handy way of carrying around your memories.
