Even if he painted …
Even if he painted the chair… all of the white parts would have remained white…. the parts that turned blue changed because those pixels had a color value to change. ie grey/ off white

he used the brush …
he used the brush in “color” mode, which does usually not effect white or black in an image. Green (and every other color) does, that’s why the grass is blue but the bench isn’t. hope that helped!

i guess he chose …
i guess he chose Color as brush mode, which supposedly doesn’t affect white. however, you can see a but of blue on the legs.
