There are a lot of things you can do with Photoshop. The main thing i think most people use photoshop for is editing more than creating so that might be a good place to start. I suggest getting familiar with the tools first before really getting into it.

Lynda.com do the most wonderful PS training videos. There is a monthly charge but as they cover nearly every available graphics package, it represents really good value for money. There are other training packages but they demand either a much higher subscription rate or the purchase of a CD. The first videos are free so why don’t you give them a try.
Good luck. I’m so envious…it looks a really marvellous program and there a so many wonderful websites with tremendous ideas for its users.
