Anti-aliasing for a Smoother Corporate Graphic Design

July 25th, 2010

Posted by admin in graphic design | No Comments »

When vying for a commercial successful website, one cannot really afford to ignore the need for a professional graphic design powered by custom web development and overall search engine friendliness. Per se, there are various facets to a good looking corporate graphic design and one of them is called anti-aliasing.

A term often used in connection with graphic cards and computer games; Anti-aliasing is integral to a nice and smooth professional graphic design across digital media. The method is used to discernibly smooth the rough edged texts and images in any online game, graphic card or website to give it a more corporate look.

A deeper look into how anti-aliasing works, reveals that it involves no magic but purely smarter handling of the graphics at hand. Anti-aliasing achieves a smoother look for the texts and graphics by rendering the edges less obvious for the human eyes, thus only fooling the viewer’s eyes that the image is now minus a jagged look. The finer texts and graphics in turn reinforce a corporate graphic design impression in the psyche of the audience at large and win better response for the game/ graphic card/ website etc.

The secret behind anti-aliasing can be easily realized by magnifying the text before and after anti-aliasing. An analytical eye would take no time in understanding what anti-aliasing does to any text/ graphic. The method when implemented simply blurs the edges of the text, which looks neat and corporate like for any professional graphic design when reduced manifolds in size within the template. It naturally increases the calculations to be done on the computer monitor to achieve the professional look for the graphic design, and hence a bit slower uploading time.

While the jagged look is an outcome of the basic limitation of a computer screen, which is made up of multitude of pixels and draws any subject using horizontal and vertical lines, Anti-aliasing basically incorporates gentle color changes around the edges to give them a blended look.

A Quick Look At Model Train Sets

July 25th, 2010

Posted by admin in photo shop training | No Comments »

There are probably as many model train sets as there are different kinds of trains. It is not hard to find them online, or at your local hobby shop. From exact replicas of antique locomotives, fancy, futuristic mono rail trains, and just about everything in between.

Many of these sets not only include the engine, cars, tracks on transformers, but also all the scenery and buildings you will need to start a basic layout. One very unique and cool model train sets is called the New Bright Sleigh Bell Holiday Express G.

This set is decorated in bright holiday colors, and includes the engine and coal car, a passenger car and caboose. It also has 75 individual lights, plays Christmas songs, and has the sound of a bell or whistle.

It includes a water tower, 12 curved and 8 straight tracks, the transformer which can easily power all this set has to offer. Other New Bright add on cars will NOT fit this set, however there are more Holiday Express accessory cars available.

While the transformer will power up to 80 feet of track, if you decide to purchase the optional musical clock tower, you may not have enough power to run all of it at the same time. While this unique set lists as much as $235, it can be found in many places for well under $200.

Another of the popular model train sets is the Bachmann Digital commander Deluxe HO Set, model number 00501. This set has two trains, and includes new DCC On Board technology, that allows you to be able to operate both trains separately, but at the same time.

The exclusive E-Z Command digital control systems gives separate control over speed lighting and the direction of both train. This train set includes both a EMD FT locomotive, (Santa Fe,) and the EMD GP40 (Union Pacific) engine.

One terminal rerailer, 3 freight cars, and a caboose. It also includes enough track to make a 47×38″ oval track, and of course the command center, power pack and magnets.

It also includes a DVD E-Z command instruction video, and illustrated manual. While the list price is close to three hundred dollars, may retailers offer this set for well under two hundred.

This is just a small sampling of all that is available for model train sets. This doesn’t even include any of the accessories and kits offered.

You have town sets, which there are may varieties, as well as many scenery packs, and even trestle packages, enough to set up a mountain pass layout. If you want other ideas on layout designs, you can easily find videos and photos of many an enthusiasts creations.

It is really only limited by your budget and imagination. There are many communities of model train enthusiasts, and in many areas there are even museums, and shows set up just for model trains.

There are even contests held to see who has the most elaborate model train sets and set up, and it isn’t limited to the indoors, and many bigger sets are used in outdoor garden and landscaping settings.

Can you Catch a Virus From Printing your Digital Camera Photos in Public Booths?

July 25th, 2010

Posted by admin in photo shop | No Comments »

Security should be a serious issue to anyone who uses a computer. Whether at work or home, most people are well aware of the risks associated with the internet. Trojans, spyware, viruses and other download traps are the equivalent of Armageddon to your precious computer’s hard drive and can have a serious impact on your life if your computer is infected. But, although most people are quite savvy about the security threats from the internet, the majority still don’t consider the risks associated with imported storage material such as CDs, DVDs, memory sticks and memory cards – especially those from digital cameras.

Experts will tell you that inserting any foreign data storage or transfer medium into your computer without checking for viruses first is not a wise move. Yet, most of us are quite happy to take a memory card out of our digital camera and insert it straight into our computer, or a do-it-yourself print machine in a supermarket, chemist or photo shop, in order to print off our pictures.

But a memory card is a medium upon which instructions can be written to by a computer. A digital camera is merely a sophisticated, modified computer and the cards used in it can also be inserted directly into some computers. Therefore, it is theoretically possible for someone to infect a photo memory card in their computer then insert it into a printing machine passing on the virus to all subsequent memory cards that use that machine.

Thankfully, however, even through most experts acknowledge that in theory it is perfectly feasible to infect memory cards in this way, they insist that the risk is minimal. They are keen to point out that the perpetrators will gain nothing financially from such an action making it extremely unlikely to occur. In fact most commentators put the chances of your memory disc being infected in this way at around 1 in 10,000.

But even if that miniscule risk is too much for you to contemplate there are alternatives to printing off photos at public booths. You can print at home, either on your regular printer or by using a dedicated machine that produces standard 6 x 4 prints. Currently, this is probably the most expensive way of printing digital photos. It is undoubtedly convenient, but the unit cost with a home printer can be as much as 50 pence per print. Compare that to the cost of printing photos at do-it-yourself booths, and it can be up to ten times more expensive! Uploading photos via the web to secure storage sites is also a way to get cheaper photo prints. Plus an added benefit of using that method is that it is also a convenient way to share your photos with others. By choosing to place your prints in public folders, you simply send the link to the pictures to your friends, rather than cluttering up yours and their inbox with space-hogging photographs.

The Most Powerful Photo Editing Software Features That You Should Have

July 25th, 2010

Posted by admin in photo editing | No Comments »

No matter how good the photograph is it will most likely require some type of editing. Even professional photographers will touch up their pictures no matter how good they are. With digital photography photo, editing is simple with all the free software that is available. Once you become more involved in this aspect of photography, you will probably want to invest in software that is a little more advanced.

Another thing people fail to realize is all the uses their photos have. They are not just for sticking in a hard cover album and forgetting about. One great way to use your photos is by creating a photo storybook. This can be most professional looking when the photo editing software is used.

If you are new to photo editing then when you go to find a free software to download find something that is easy and basic. If you have a great deal of difficulty in understanding or applying the editing features, you may become frustrated with digital photography on the whole.

An easy program will allow you to fix your photos with a few easy steps. Many times photos have a lot of material in them you just do not want. Your primary interest is the subject. Use the cropping tool to scale down your picture and bring it in closer to the subjects.

Make sure the software will give you the options for sharpening your colors and creating contrast if necessary. In addition, you need to be able to resize your pictures. You would do this if you want to print smaller versions or send them to a friend. When you do this step, you want to be sure that none of the quality of the picture is lost. Good software will ensure this does not happen.

You want to be able to add some special effects to your photos. For example, you may want to put some nice frames or boarders around them. Fonts are another important effect for the text you want to put with your picture. Therefore, you want software that will give you multiple choices.

One very important thing to remember when downloading your editing software is to make sure it will work properly with your type of computer operating system. You also want to choose a program that is not going to be complicated in downloading. Ideally, you will want one with a wizard feature to step you through this process.

Once you have decided on your photo editing software make sure you take the time to read the help material thoroughly. This way you are more likely to make use of everything the software has to offer. Once you outgrow the basic editing software, you can continue on to some that have far more advanced options. Often in anticipation of doing something, wonderful with our photos we jump into editing them without first learning the techniques then naturally, we become disappointed with the outcome. So practice with your camera, and have patience with your editing and there is no doubt that you will have some excellent photos.

Airbrush Tool of Photoshop: A Graphic Designer’s Favorite

July 23rd, 2010

Posted by admin in graphic design | No Comments »

Adobe Photoshop and graphic designing spell almost synonymous. The contribution of Photoshop to a graphic design firm has been manifold –right from designing to editing. A graphics designer who works on Photoshop is well-aware of the advantages of Photoshop over other designing tools.

Photoshop’s Paint Tools consist of four tools – Airbrush is one among them (Pencil Tool, the Paintbrush and the Paint Bucket are the rest). The Airbrush Tool of Photoshop stimulates an airbrush and it’s ideal for soft, delicate and subtle editing. A creative graphic designer even uses this function for removing dark circles from under eyes while merging or incorporating images onto their projects to make the graphics look for stunning, more vibrant.

The Airbrush Tool of Photoshop is similar to the Paintbrush only difference being its softer edge. Using the function is quite easy. You just need to click on the tool and then select the desired options from the Option Bar that includes brush size, shape and pattern. The Brush pull-down menu on the Option Bar helps you select a new brush. You can also load more brushes by clicking the circle button with the black arrow. Create brushes, save modified brushes, delete brushes, rename brushes and reset brushes are the other functions which can be initiated using the button. You need to select the layer on which you want to paint in the Layers palette. Then dragging the mouse you are all set to draw.

A graphic design company can harvest the maximum in designing using the Airbrush Tool of Photoshop. The tool comes with a Pressure slider function that modifies how much paint is sprayed when the mouse is down. The spraying of paint using the function is pretty easy and interesting. You just need to choose the airbrush tool and then click on the canvas holding the mouse down while dragging. In a custom graphic design firm, this function is frequently used. And results have been just terrific!
