For me the best way to learn is via visual (video) tutorials. Try this site:

There are various instructions by various people. So some are better than others. But in general I think video is better than written words.

Take a class at your local community college. They will get you started and you don’t have to buy the program if you are not sure about it yet.

if you have photoshop go to help, then click something that has to do with it leading to the internet and it tells you EVERYTHING! yeah..
